How to set up a kiosk wrist band printer

These instructions refer to creating a kiosk that will print wrist band tickets for an activity. The kiosk will be a PC terminal using the Kioware Lite browser and a Zebra label printer.

1. Following instructions to install Windows 10 creating a user called Sports Booker during the installation process (make a note of the password you use).

2. Create a second Windows user account called KioskUser (this will be used as the Kiosk login).

3. Insert the label roll and attach the cutter to the label printer before switching it on.

4. Connect the label printer to the PC and it should install the necessary drivers automatically.

5. In the Devices and Printers control panel set the label printer as the default printer.

6. In printer preferences for the label printer make sure the Options settings are as follow; a. Page format = inches, landscape. b. Size = width 1, height 10 (or an alternate size of the labels/wrist bands if different). c. Unprintable area = 0 for all options.

7. Also in printer preferences for the label printer make sure the Advanced setup is set to use printer settings.

8. Calibrate the label printer to the size of the labels as described in the printer instructions.

9. Download and install Kioware lite.

10. Open the Kioware Config Tool application.

11. In Kioware General settings set the Start page URL to be https://xxx.sportsbooker.com/ticket (replacing the xxx with the subdomain that corresponds to your booking site). a. It is important that you make a note of the Kioware passcode, which you can change.

12. In the Kioware Browser settings make sure they are set as follows; a. Popup = Disable. b. Print without showing printer selection dialogue = Ticked.

13. In the Kioware Attract settings make sure they are set as follows; a. Clear spooler = Ticked. b. Clear clipboard = Ticked. c. Reset volume = Zero (move slider to the left). d. Disable user interaction on additional displays = Ticked.

14. In the Kioware User interface settings make sure they are set as follows; a. Always hide mouse cursor = Ticked. b. Virtual keyboard = Use HTML keyboard. c. Auto show virtual keyboard = Ticked.

15. In the Kioware Keyboard settings choose the set recommended to change all the settings automatically.

16. In the Kioware Security settings click on Browsing Access then enter the following; a. Choose New Domain and enter sports-booker.com. b. Make sure All pages option for this domain is set to Allow and the Everything else option is set to Block.

17. In the Kioware System settings make sure they are set as follows; a. Windows auto login = On. b. In the Windows Auto Login settings select the username KioskUser, enter your password and click on Test. c. In the Utility to change user settings select the username KioskUser, enter your password and click on Change user settings, then choose the second option Use Kioware as user shell.

18. Restart the PC and the KioskUser will be logged in automatically and the Kioware browser will open on the correct web page.

19. If you need to modify any settings on this PC to exit the Kioware browser press each corner of the screen starting in the top left working clockwise. a. You will be presented with a code entry form where you should type in your Kioware passcode. b. The KioskUser will be logged out and you will be able to login as the Sports Booker admin user to make changes to the Kioware Config Tool or the PC settings.
