What does "default maximum consecutive sessions" mean?

This is the number of consecutive sessions that may be booked and for which a price is available.

Example: A sports hall runs in 1 hour blocks and you only want customers to be able to book for 2 hours at a time. In this case, you would set the default maximum consecutive sessions to 2. 

1. Go to Settings > Activities > Add activity.

Setting this within the activity sets the default that will be pulled through when scheduling the activity. While this is the default, it can be set per schedule. For example you may allow for longer consecutive bookings on weekdays versus weekends.
